Kurdish political prisoners in Mahabad deprived of family visits
NEWS DESK (DİHA) - Heyman (Havreh) Ghazali and Abdul Rahman (Soran) Ramezanpour, two Kurdish political prisoners in Mahabad prison in Iran’s Kurdistan region were incommunicado by prison officials for two weeks.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on Thursday, 28th May, these two Kurdish prisoners in the wake of protests against the non-compliance by prison guards as punishment were deprived of visit for two weeks.
An informed said: “These people made a complaint to prison officials; ‘Why you do not respect the regulations that you have put about prisoners’ Wake-up time, and by various excuses, wake the prisoners earlier than due time and make them annoyed and upset?’ It was later determined that because of this complaint, they have been incommunicado. ”
Havreh (Himan) Ghazal, 24, on 4th April 2014, on charges of membership and supporting the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran KDPI, was arrested and sentenced by the court to 18 months in prison. Abdul Rahman Ramezanpour, 24, was also arrested on 21st November 2013 and he was sentenced to five years imprisonment on charges of holding connection with the Kurdish parties, and both of these prisoners, contrary to the prisoners separation rule, are currently held along with non-political prisoners in Mahabad prison.
According to Human Rights Activists in Iran, in the wake of the recent Kurdish protests in Mahabad city, pressure and security manners has intensified in Mahabad prison, too.
