Saturday Mothers: Impunity culture is black sheep of humanity
İSTANBUL (DİHA) - Saturday Mothers, in the 531st week of their search for justice, dedicated this week of the act to Saturday mother Şahsenem Cihan who lost her life two days ago without taking any results from her 34-year struggle for justice.
The Dayikên Şemiyê (Saturday Mothers) and the Human Rights Association (IHD) officials, in their search for justice in the 531st week, held sit-in act at Galatasaray Square, in the central Taksim area of Istanbul. They held the placards of "The perpetrators are evident, where are the missing?" and the photographs of people who were lost and sacrificed to unresolved murders.
They demanded justice for missings with red carnations on their hands. They dedicated this week of the act to Saturday mother Şahsenem Cihan who lost her life two days without taking any results from her 34-year struggle for justice. Her son Süleyman Cihan was one of missing of 12 September military coup.
'Let justice lost in Turkey be found'
Speaking in the act, missing Rıdvan Karakoç's brother Hasan Karakoç said, "Perpetrators and killers of only few people were found. There are thousands of killers. The killers are evident, but no judgement".
Ali Ocak, brother of symbol missing Hasan Ocak, said mother Şahsenem lost her life without seeing justice for her son and added, "We do not want our children to suffer similar pains in the future. This impunity is black sheep of humanity. Not people, but justice has been disappeared in Turkey. Let justice lost in Turkey be found".
'We will resume our struggle'
İHD İstanbul Branch member Mine Nazari said they would never give up from their struggle until justice was served. Nazari called on the political parties to work for Truth Commission in the parliament.
Following a five-minute sit-in, the mothers left the square to come together in the 531st week of their act.
